Report: Star Wars KOTOR Remake Potentially Cancelled, “Not Being Worked On” Currently

star wars kotor remake cancelled

The Knights of the Old Republic Remake might be dead in the water as we know it. According to Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb, the Star Wars KOTOR Remake is “not being worked on” and may even be cancelled, though the exact details are currently unclear.

In an episode of Giant Bomb’s Game Mess Mornings today, Jeff Grubb “100% confirmed” that the game is not being worked on right now and that no team is currently making progress on it:

I just want to clear it up: this game is not being worked on right now. Just, full stop, this game is not being worked on in any way by any studio.

I looked into it a little bit; I don’t think this is news to most of you. I think you guys can piece together if you’ve been listening to this, and Sony stepping away and scrubbing mentions of Knights of the Old Republic on social media and YouTube. You can put two and two together there, but just to 100% confirm it: this game is not being worked on right now.

The KOTOR Remake has seen trouble since it first got delayed in July of last year. After moving studios and facing several “no-comment” comments from parent company Embracer, the project seems to finally be reaching its end. Of course, there’s not been any official confirmation that this game is dead, so take it with a grain of salt.

Hopefully one day the project is reignited by a team that can actually make it work. In the meantime, you can be excited for the Star Wars Dark Forces remaster arriving early next year.
