He said, “We’ve come a long way in the past 20 years. If you look at Resident Evil 4, it sort of inspired Gears of War, Uncharted, and all these different games. I recall them saying that Gears of War was inspired by Resident Evil 4, particularly the over-the-shoulder camera view.”

Resident Evil 4 introduced major design innovations, such as the over-the-shoulder camera, which has now become a norm in modern games. While it offers precision aiming, this feature wasn’t really common before the release of Resident Evil 4.

This third-person perspective influenced titles like Gears of War, the Mass Effect series, The Last of Us, Dead Space, and many more, helping modern game design to innovate further.

While recent modern games have evolved a lot when it comes to immersion and graphics, but the release of Resident Evil 4 influenced most modern games, showing them a path to improvement and helping the industry grow.
