While we eagerly await more news about Resident Evil Veronica, the in-development remake of the 2000 entry in the franchise, it seems more of these remakes are on the way.

Short of announcing remakes for Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6, Capcom’s Jun Takeuchi has commented on the franchise’s trajectory when it comes to releases for both remakes and numbered titles in the franchise.

Resident Evil 5 Remake, RE6 Remake Seemingly Confirmed Already

As part of the Resident Evil 30th Anniversary Mook (magazine + book) that went on sale earlier this week, Resident Evil Executive Producer Jun Takeuchi commented on how the franchise is being developed along two tracks, and how the dev team is expecting the remakes to catch up to the numbered entries in the franchise.

Takeuchi states (via RENews): “The current “Resident Evil” series is being developed along two tracks: the numbered titles allow players to experience the ongoing story of the series, while the remake series allows them to experience the past. Someday, the remake series will catch up with the era of the numbered titles, and we are already thinking about what we will do when that happens. In fact, we have been gradually preparing for that since around “Resident Evil Village.” The appearance of names such as Umbrella and Spencer, as well as the return of Raccoon City in “Requiem,” are also in preparation for a “crossover.”

One of the reasons we regard “7” as a turning point for the series is that it was also the title where we began working on this kind of setup. At first, we included these elements with the sense that they were fan service, but users were far more delighted by them than we had imagined, and they even began analyzing the thoughts that the development team had privately kept to itself. So, as a series, we decided to respond to users’ expectations and pushed this setup further in “Village” and “Requiem.”

Takeuchi isn’t just some random Capcom developer either, as he served as a developer for the Resident Evil franchise since the ’90s, and has since been credited as Executive Producer for Resident Evil Village, Resident Evil Requiem, and even Resident Evil Veronica.

While unannounced, we’ve uncovered details on a Resident Evil 0 remake, such as its casting and plot details.

In addition to that, we’ve also reported on the cast details for the Resident Evil Code Veronica remake as well, with the title set to be released sometime in 2027.
