Report: Resident Evil Veronica and Zero Remake Cast Details Revealed
When the Resident Evil: Code Veronica remake was finally revealed, we got our first look at an updated model for Claire Redfield, with some clear changes since the last time we saw her in RE2 Remake. But aside from that short teaser showing a new intro and environments, it’s evident that Capcom chose to keep many of the interesting details to themselves, such as the new cast chosen for this iteration of the story.
It is natural to suspect that a few veterans will reprise their major characters from previous games, but for now the roster officially remains a mystery. That’s why we have been doing some digging and hearing directly about the talent tapped for the upcoming Resident Evil remakes.

Veronica and Zero Remakes: What We’ve Heard About the Cast
Starting with Resident Evil Veronica, it won’t come as much of a surprise that we’ve learned actress Stephanie Panisello will be returning as the lead, reprising her role as Claire Redfield from Resident Evil 2 Remake and the two CGI spin-offs, Infinite Darkness and Death Island. Our source indicates she will be coming back alongside Jeff Schine, the most recent actor to play Chris Redfield, whose last appearance was in Resident Evil Village. Rounding out the returning veterans, we can also report that Craig Burnatowski is back as Albert Wesker, following his debut as the character in the Resident Evil 4 Remake.
Now, turning to newcomers, it’s time to mention Steve Burnside, who is essentially the game’s third protagonist and an important ally to Claire. This time around, we’ve discovered the character will be played by British actor Matthew Castle, marking his debut project in the video game industry. His previous work includes theater experience, as well as minor roles in films like Dumbo and Transformers: The Last Knight.
Another ally of Claire who appears early in the story is Rodrigo Juan Raval, an Umbrella security commander. According to our information, he will be played by Vincent Kerschbaum, who already has experience in the medium after participating in prominent titles like Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and Company of Heroes 3. Based on previous leaks, Rodrigo will seemingly take on a larger role in this remake, so it will be interesting to see what kind of spin Kerschbaum brings to the character.
And of course, when talking about the story of Code Veronica, we can’t forget the twisted antagonists of the Ashford family: Alfred Ashford, the military commander of the Rockfort Island prison, and his twin sister, Alexia Ashford. We can reveal that Andrew Wheildon-Dennis is stepping into the role of Alfred, while Lizabeth Helian will bring Alexia to life. Both already boast notable video game credits, with Wheildon-Dennis having previously worked with Capcom on Dragon’s Dogma 2 and Helian having appeared in Dead Island 2.
To wrap up the names attached to Resident Evil Veronica, we have two actresses stepping into currently unknown parts: Phoebe O’Donovan and Lucy Aarden. Curiously, O’Donovan has previously been credited as a production runner on Resident Evil Requiem, while Aarden brings acting experience from small roles in major television series like Game of Thrones and Slow Horses.
Even though we haven’t been able to confirm their exact roles within the game just yet, the possibilities are truly endless. We already know Capcom has consistently expanded the scope of the story in every Resident Evil remake to flesh out the narrative, meaning there is plenty of room for new or reimagined characters.
As a heads up, we haven’t uncovered quite as much for the (yet to be announced) Resident Evil 0 Remake, but we do have the most interesting piece of the puzzle: the lead roles. If you have been keeping up with us, you will remember that last year we broke the news about this second remake being codenamed Chamber, along with a few other details such as the potential involvement of actor Jon McLaren as Billy Coen. The most recent information we gathered further corroborates that McLaren will be playing a major role in this remake.
You will also be interested to know who has been chosen to step into the boots of main protagonist Rebecca Chambers, and it seems we finally have a name. The actress selected to bring her to life is Canadian star Hallea Jones, who played Eden Hawkins in the Netflix series Locke & Key. Although she gained recognition with that role, all signs indicate her big breakout as a lead will come as the face of Capcom’s remake alongside Jon McLaren, with both of them boarding the Ecliptic Express.
While our source didn’t specifically name Craig Burnatowski, his return is also anticipated in this title given Albert Wesker’s presence in both original games.
The two remakes will be joining the list of upcoming projects in the series, along with a DLC for their latest release, Resident Evil Requiem. From what we gather, this expansion is being handled by Capcom’s M-Two and K2 teams. Those divisions were originally in charge of the Zero remake until the project underwent a reboot in 2024, ultimately moving development duties over to Capcom’s Division 1.
Similarly, additional content for Veronica is anticipated to arrive sometime in the future, though specific details remain under wraps. Capcom has no plans to slow down the franchise anytime soon, relying on an ever-expanding lineup of sequels and remakes to ensure the IP stays fresh. Resident Evil Veronica is officially set to release next year, while current rumors point to a 2028 launch for the Resident Evil 0 remake.
