Resident Evil Requiem’s Mama Monster Stalker Is the Stuff of Nightmares
While yesterday’s Resident Evil Requiem gameplay trailer was impressive with its graphical fidelity and seamless transitions, we haven’t seen anything yet.
Today, on the gamescom show floor, Capcom has opened up Resident Evil Requiem for testing, and the developers even allowed footage to be captured, which presented us with the game’s stalker, the mama monster!
OK, that’s not the monster’s real name, but seeing as Capcom hasn’t given her (it?) a name yet, we’re going with that.
Resident Evil Requiem’s Stalker Is the Scariest We’ve Seen
We’ve seen Nemesis, Tyrant, and whoever chases us around in past Resident Evil games, and while these enemies evoke panic and fear when we hear them near us, it’s a different kind of monster with Resident Evil Requiem! Scary, right? There are a lot of parts about Resident Evil Requiem that are still a mystery, but some info has come to light. based on gameplay footage and previews, this new stalker enemy can not only chase after you, but it can even travel above you through ceilings, adding to the unpredictability of where she’ll creep up.
Grace will be able to use glass bottles and sound to attract the stalker’s attention away from her, but using a lighter you find early in to light your way will draw attention. The mama monster is vulnerable to light, though, so brightly lit areas will be a haven for Grace to rest and feel safe.
While Capcom is slowly opening up Resident Evil Requiem, there’s still a lot of questions left unanswered. We should hear more about the game before the year is over, given its release date of February 27, 2026.
Will we see Leon make an appearance as rumors suggest? We can’t say for sure, but Capcom is trying its best to quell that rumor.
Resident Evil Requiem is the ninth mainline entry, and is set for release on Feb. 27, 2026 on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
