“Return to Silent Hill” Movie Announced, Christopher Gans Returning to Direct

It looks like the reports were true, we are indeed getting another Silent Hill movie! During today’s Silent Hill Transmission, Konami announced “Return to Silent Hill,” which is a live-action movie that will once again be helmed by Christopher Gans who directed the first Silent Hill movie that was released back in 2006.

In the digital event, Gans officially confirmed that they’re working on a new Silent Hill movie, currently dubbed “Return to Silent Hill”. He went on to show a number of artwork in a newly released teaser video that you can watch below.

The film is currently in production with an arrival expected sometime next year. Gans note that it’ll be based on the second Silent Hill game, which is also getting a remake by Bloober Team, exclusively (timed) for the PS5 and PC. Film producer Victor Hadida also had this to add about the film (via DigitalTrends):

“This one now has so many years from the first one that there is a clear idea from Christophe to make it modern, but also very true to the video game,” said Hadida. “And that’s also what it is. We are also respecting the will of the author, the producers and Konami into this adaptation. Christophe is really somebody that respects the work that has been done, but that also has his own vision. It nurtures the creative vision of the authors from the game, but with a different vision from a filmmaker. And both have created, I believe, something that has struck the minds of the fans.”

Return to Silent Hill will be released next year. It’s currently unclear whether it is planned for a theatrical release, or released on a streaming platform such as Netflix, or somewhere else.
