While we haven’t seen a Returnal game update since July, it seems the same can’t be said for the game’s developer build, as it recently got a 6GB patch which brings it to version 2.000! Note that this is for the developer build, and the retail one (which we’re all playing), is still at version 1.004.001.

PS5 database Prosperopatches was triggered with the update, which means it’s been uploaded on the PlayStation Network, and reliable PlayStation file size scraper PlayStation Game Size also mentioned it, too.

Could this mean that a big title update is incoming? Maybe, maybe not. That said, it is intriguing to see the developers update their game, and one that’s quite a large jump in terms of version naming. Usually, game versions jump incrementally for patches, unless it’s a huge jump (almost always with new content) where we see versions jump to version 2.0 and the like.
