This year’s iteration of Call of Duty is yet to be released, but that fact does not seem to dissuade different insiders on theorizing the next title in the series coming in 2022. According to well-known insider Tom Henderson, Call of Duty 2022 will be a sequel to Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2019, which is under a codename called Project Cortez.

As with any kind of rumor or leak, take this one with a grain of salt, no matter how trusted the source may seem. That said, this Call of Duty 2022 rumor stemmed from the massive GeForce Now datamine earlier this week, which listed the said Project Cortez as one of the titles. The full list of datamined titles from the leak can be found here, and you can check out some apparent titles headed to PC like Sony’s God of War.

Publication VGC corroborated the leak, and they were the one who originally pointed out Project Cortez was in the GeForce Now leak. The publication also reported that this sequel will include a campaign involving US special forces fighting a covert war against Columbian drug cartels.

Call of Duty: Vanguard is set to be released on November 5, 2021 for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
