Rumor: Call of Duty 2025 Will Tie Up With COD 2024, and Will Reportedly Feature Black Ops 2 Maps

As Call of Duty rumors continue to ramp up leading up to the release of this year’s Modern Warfare 3, a new rumor has emerged claiming that Call of Duty 2025, which is purportedly being developed by Treyarch will be a direct sequel to COD 2024 and also include the original roster of multiplayer maps from Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.

According to Twitter user and well-known Call of Duty leaker @el_bobberto, Treyarch is looking to include maps from the 2012 classic as part of the lineup for their game releasing in 2025. This game will reportedly serve as a follow-up to Treyarch’s Call of Duty 2024, in the same way that Modern Warfare 3 is directly following last year’s Modern Warfare 2.

This claim was backed up by Twitter user @TheMW2Ghost, who claims that they had also heard talk of plans to remaster Black Ops 2’s maps “some time back.”

While Call of Duty games are released yearly, usually, the game’s sub franchises alternate between years. If this rumor rings true, then that old tradition is being put aside; something we’re seeing with Modern Warfare 2 now leading up to Modern Warfare 3 just 12 months after instead of another COD sub franchise being released.

Rumors like these should always be taken with many, many grains of salt.  As the leaker himself stated in his original tweet, these plans are very likely to change in the next two years. It’s safe to assume that Activision will wait to see the fan reception for the remastered MW2 maps coming to this year’s Call of Duty before committing to anything for the next couple of games. Still, it would be great to see maps like Hijacked, Raid, and Standoff reimagined for the modern era.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is currently cycling its own fair share of rumors. We recently saw reported leaks of the game’s new tactical equipment system. To keep up with news about all things Call of Duty, stay tuned in to us here at MP1st.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 releases on November 10, 2023, for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Battle.net and Steam.

Am l imagining things or does Black Ops: Cold war have a few BO2 maps? It definitely has Hijacked, Standofff, Slums and Nuketown.
