Report: Modern Warfare 3 Will Feature All 16 MW2 2009 Maps

If you have fond memories of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer maps (the original one released back in 2009), you’re in for a treat with this year’s Modern Warfare 3. It seems that Activision has confirmed that Modern Warfare 3 will feature all 16 maps from the original MW2! Far from being a rumor or speculation, it is an official confirmation that was shared via an ingenious market ploy.

The maps were unearthed via the phone number Easter egg spotted in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 reveal trailer. The same number (open to US residents) was also shared via the official @callofduty Twitter page. However, the process to receive confirmation on the maps is different from what Activision shared in that tweet, which seemed to be more of a traditional way to receive automated alerts from Call of Duty.

The number is +1 202-918-3022 and sending a text via phone or WhatsApp with the name of a map will send confirmation that the map is in Modern Warfare 3. All 16 maps from Modern Warfare 2 are confirmed to transition to the sequel.

Here is the full list of Modern Warfare 3 maps coming from Modern Warfare 2 (2009):

  • Afghan
  • Derail
  • Estate
  • Favela
  • Highrise
  • Invasion
  • Karachi
  • Quarry
  • Rundown
  • Rust
  • Scrapyard

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 worldwide reveal is slated to  take place tomorrow, August 17, in Warzone, which has been the case for the last few years. Speaking of which, the title update that houses the reveal data was released earlier today, and here are the patch notes for it.

Modern Warfare 3 is set for release this November 10 on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
