With Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 confirmed to be carrying over a lot of items from Modern Warfare 2, some might be wondering if there’s a way to upgrade the from MW2 to MW3. Sadly, it’s been confirmed today that’s not the case.

In a statement sent to CharlieIntel, Activision confirmed that Modern Warfare 3 will be priced at a full $70, and won’t offer an upgrade if you already own MW2. Activision states that MW3 is a “premium release” and not an expansion.

“As stated in numerous Activision Blizzard quarterly conference calls, Modern Warfare III is a premium release. It will be price accordingly at $70 USD,” an Activision spokesperson tells CharlieIntel.

That’s about it. Don’t expect Modern Warfare 3 to offer any price reduction if you own MW2. It’s a full-priced game, which is to be expected.

The official MW3 reveal is set to take place this August 17, with Warzone players able to experience it in-game as anew limited-time event.

Nowadays $70 is the new $60, wouldn’t expect anything less from these money grubby developers who try and nickel and dime the fanbase for the same amount of content. That’s the price we pay for dealing with these corporate types, they expect more money but provide the same amount of content.
