Rumor: Nintendo Switch 2 Targeting a 2024 Release

nintendo switch 2

According to a new report, it seems like Nintendo is planning to launch its next-gen console, or the Nintendo Switch 2, during the second half of 2024. The report states the company is holding off the release until it has ample stock available on launch day, and does not face shortages.

Similar to the Nintendo Switch, the Switch 2 can also reportedly be used in a portable mode, and could launch with an LCD screen instead of the OLED to cut costs. The saved costs will probably go towards increased storage for next-gen games.

Switch 2 will also feature physical games in the shape of a cartridge slot. VGC’s sources state that backwards compatibility support for Switch games is “unclear” on the Switch 2. More details and specifications about the Switch 2 are being kept secret, but the report states that developers have received development kits for the Switch 2, suggesting that the 2024 release is real.

Last month, fake images (that looked pretty real) of the Nintendo Switch 2 were floating across the internet, which sparked rumors and speculation about the upcoming console. It seems like we will get an official update about the handheld sometime soon especially if it’s targeting a 2024 release window.

Until then, take this report with a grain of salt. We will update our readers as soon as any official information is out.

I hope it’s not just a rumor, however i’ve been seeing the fake pictures and articles about the Switch successor and hopefully when it’s available they have a decent stock available.
