US Army Making a Game to Train Teachers to Respond to School Shootings

It’s an unfortunate case that mass shootings in US schools have been so rampant that now the US Army is making a game to help teachers react and respond when it happens.

The US Army is collaborating with the department of Homeland Security, and the Cole Engineering Services on the game, which is based on a soldier training simulation, but is being re-purposed for school shootings, with input from the mother of a victim of the Sandy Hook massacre.

Check out the “gameplay” video below.

According to Tamara Griffith of the Army Research Lab, “The more experience you have, the better your chances of survival. This allows you to practice, and have multiple experiences, to know what works and what doesn’t work.”

The simulation is expected to launch in spring of this year.

Let’s hope this helps teachers cope with the school shootings. Or better yet, let’s hope there’s no mass shootings in schools  — or anywhere else — at all.

Do you think this will help teachers in what to do when school shootings happen? If not, what would be a better training aid in your opinion?
