Silent Hill f Rating Reveals Weapons, Story Scenes, and More
[summaraize]
While we still don’t have a release date for Silent Hill f, despite having a showcase this past week, more detialsabout the horror game has come to light, thanks to the game’s ESRB rating.
It not only gives an age rating but also describes some yet-to-be-announced gameplay features, such as weapons, some information on the game’s monsters, and some new story details.
Silent Hill f Rating Suggests Game Is Doing Away With a Weapon Type

So, fair warning to everyone who doesn’t want the upcoming Silent Hill game spoiled in any way. Despite this coming directly from the ESRB to explain the reasoning behind the “M” rating, the description is nonetheless pretty spoiler-filled, even if it’s vague in some parts. If you’re okay with that, then, by all means, continue reading. Otherwise, you’ll probably want to close the page out now.
Still here? All right, don’t say I didn’t warn you.
The first piece of information revealed by the ESRB rating is that players will face off against a variety of monsters, which include humanoid monsters, mutants, and mythical creatures. It’s not something entirely out of the norm for the franchise, so nothing too big there. However, the rating says that players will be able to defend themselves in melee-style combat against these monsters, with axes, crowbars, knives, and spears being confirmed as available weapons. This may hint that there won’t be any guns this time around.
The next part of the description details some of the death animations, as well as some of the cutscenes and the intense acts of violence they display. Again, this might be a massive spoiler, so if you don’t want to read it, this is really your last chance.
The ESRB rating states, “Blood-splatter effects occur frequently as characters are attacked; several areas depict large bloodstains in the environment and near corpses. Some enemy attacks can result in players’ character getting impaled in the neck and/or getting their faces ripped apart. Cutscenes sometimes depict gore and more intense acts of violence: a character burned alive inside a cage; a woman branded by a hot iron; entrails and sinew displayed on serving platters in fantastical celebration/ceremony; a character sawing off her own arm; a character slicing off portions of a character’s face during a ritual. Concept art depicts a nude mannequin-like character, with exposed buttocks and partially exposed breasts; the character appears in a creature-like form throughout the game.”
Considering how descriptive this is compared to some of the more vague ESRB ratings we’ve seen, this may suggest that Silent Hill f is a lot closer to release. It’s possible Konami is waiting for Metal Gear Delta: Snake Eater, the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake, to come out first before announcing a release date for Silent Hill f, but that’s speculation on our part. Coincidentally, Silent Hill 2 Remake’s ESRB rating came in March of last year, with the release date announced in May. The game came out in October of last year. If this is any indication, there’s a good chance we could see Silent Hill f arriving this October, which would be perfect because of Halloween. I don’t see it dropping in August simply due to Metal Gear Delta.
Silent Hill f has no release date, though it is currently slated for the PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
