Sony Says the PS4 Still Has a Ton of Life Left, Has a Lot More Coming

Despite next-gen consoles releasing this year, Sony has assured fans that there is still more life in the PS4 and that it will continue to be an important system.

Speaking during the PS5 Dualsense controller reveal stream, Sony’s worldwide head of marketing of PlayStation, Eric Lempel spoke briefly about the current life cycle for the PlayStation 4, stating that owners should expect more things.

PlayStation 4 is a big part of everything we do and it will continue to be a big part of everything we do. There’s a lot more to come on PlayStation 4, I think most recently we’re seeing some of the greatest titles this generation has released in recent weeks, but that will continue. And again, PlayStation 5 is the next generation product, but again we’ve got a lot to come for people on PlayStation 4. Still a ton of life in that product.

As far as current offerings for the remainder of the year, most are third-party multiplatform, though the company did just release Ghost of Tsushima today with the Last of Us Part 2 released last month. It will be interesting to see what kind of support Sony plans to offer as we get closer to next-gen, though with the current fanbase eon the system, it will be hard to ignore the potential of more big game releases. Guess we’ll see later this year!
