Sony Sunsetting inFamous 2 UGC Missions by End of August, Will Prevent Players From Achieving the Platinum
Ever since Sony announced that they are discontinuing physical new game releases by the start of 2028, it seems the company has yet to do something right for gamers.
Well, chalk up another L for the company, especially if you’re a trophy hunter, as inFamous 2’s Platinum trophy is in danger of being unattainable come the end of August 2026.
While the game will remain playable, its UGC (user-generated content) will soon be sunsetted by Sony.
inFamous 2 UGC Missions About to End Due to “Technical Considerations”
According to Sony, “Due to ongoing technical considerations, online support for the User Generated Content (UGC) features in inFAMOUS 2 on PlayStation 3 will end as of Aug 31st 2026.”
After this date, players will no longer be able to “access, browse, upload, download, or play UGC missions through the inFAMOUS 2 online servers.” However, offline features such as the main campaign will be, of course, playable.
For the trophy associated with UGC missions in inFamous 2, it’s called the “UGC Veteran,” which is a Bronze trophy that requires players to play 25 user-generated content missions.
Given it’ll soon be offline, that trophy will be unobtainable, unless Sony just awards it to anyone who loads the game? I am not even sure if that’s possible.
This is another bad look for the PlayStation brand, which has yet to acknowledge the (very valid) concerns of gamers about the electronics giant ceasing physical versions of its new games come January 2028. Not only that, but something that has been brought to our attention is how on the PlayStation Store, it is advertising the Standard Edition of games at Premium Edition pricing, which means a lot of gamers might have been bamboozled into spending more than they should have.
