Say goodbye to those low-resolution textures in Starfield as the latest must-have mod for the game, the Starfield HD Rework mod, is now available to download.
Developed by Halk Hogan, who you may recognize for his HD Rework mods for both The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, released today the first version, 1.0, of his Starfield HD Rework mod. This mod aims to eliminate most of the low-resolution textures, amongst other improvements that you can see in the comparison video below.
You can see why this is a “must-have” mod for Starfield, as this mod massively reworks textures. If you are interested in trying out the mod, instructions can be found below.
How to Download Starfield HD Rework Mod and Install (via Mod Page)
Download the mod: Starfield HD Rework Mod
Option A
- Download main file, unpack it and move the Data folder into C:\users\%userprofile%\Documents\My Games\Starfield\ and override it
- Enable Archive Invalidation (INI settings) – see this guide Howto: Archive Invalidation or download StarfieldCustom.ini from optional files and move into Documents\My Games\Starfield\
Option B (If you want the modification files to be in the main game folder and not in documents)
1 – Download main file, unpack it and move the Data folder into your Starfield main folder (for example C:\Games\steamapps\common\Starfield\) and override I
2 – Open StarfieldCustom.ini from Documents\My Games\Starfield\ and add lines
[General]
bEnableMessageOfTheDay=0
[Display]
sPhotoModeFolder=Photos
or download StarfieldCustom.ini – Starfield main folder from optional files and move the .ini file into Documents\My Games\Starfield\
3. Move the contents of your Documents\My Games\Starfield\Data folder to the Starfield main Data folder
4. Delete the Data folder in Documents\My Games\Starfield\
Option C
Install the modification using your mod manager.
As noted, this is only the first version of the mod, so don’t be surprised if there are still low-res textures in some places. Regardless, this is fantastic progress from the modding community, as it has only been two weeks since the release of Starfield. This mod will undoubtedly become one of the best mods available, and we cannot wait to see how far it progresses.
Starfield is now available on PC and Xbox Series consoles.
