At this year’s Tokyo Game Show, Bandai Namco conducted a “Tekken Talk Live” event where devs from the game presented new info about Tekken 8. While there’s new gameplay shown off, the big news here is the announcement of new features such as Tekken 8 Ranked System, Ghost Battle, Character Episodes and more.

Tekken 8 Ranked System, Ghost Battle, Character Episodes, Fighter Lounge, Arcade Quests Info:
Ranked Match:
Rules
- Best of 3 system, eliminating infinite rematch.
Ranks
- A total of 30 ranks (37 ranks in Tekken 7)
- Including completely new rank sections and revived ranks from past titles.
- Dan ranks are not lowered even if the player loses up to yellow rank.
Additional features
- Practice functions can be used while waiting
- Registered friends/competitors are displayed in the Dan rank gauge.
Super Ghost Battle:
- Players can play against AI ghosts with real player-lke movement that conmtinues to learn player’s game play characteristics and habits casually.
- AI learning using Q-learning for fast and repeatable movements.
Arcade Quest:
- Along with the progression of the story from the players’ point of view, the player can learn the basics of battle and practical techniques.
Character Episodes:
- In “Character Episodes,” each of the 32 characters has his or her own “what if” story to tell.
Online Battle:
- Three battle modes are playable in the lounge – Group, Quick, and Ranked. Each with “Battle” and “Spectate” options.
In addition to the official info, there’s a bunch of gameplay revealed as well, which include Tekken Ball, the Fight Lounge and more.

Tekken 8 is set to punch its way out this January 26 on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. There is a closed beta test kicking off next month, which you can read about here.
