The Blood of Dawnwalker Day-One Update 1.00

As promised, Rebel Wolves has released a day-one update for The Blood of Dawnwalker on consoles and PC, and this improves the game’s performance significantly. Bear in mind that this won’t resolve all the issues the game might suffer from, but it does help make the game look and perform better.

Gamers will see this download as The Blood of Dawnwalker update 1.003, and if you’ve preloaded the game just recently, you should see this as the version you have installed.

Read on to know what’s in the day-one update for this vampire RPG.

The Blood of Dawnwalker Day-One Update Brings Performance Improvements at Launch

The expected performance of the game once the day-one patch has been applied will be:

PlayStation 5 Pro:

  • Performance, targeting 60fps
  • Balanced, targeting 40fps
  • Quality, targeting 30fps
  • PlayStation 5 Pro also provides overall visual enhancements.

PlayStation 5:

  • Performance, targeting 60fps
  • Balanced, targeting 40fps
  • Quality, targeting 30fps

Xbox Series X:

  • Performance, targeting 60fps
  • Balanced, targeting 40fps
  • Quality, targeting 30fps

On Xbox Series S:

  • Targeting 30fps

For PC, the day-one update adds the following:

Graphics Card Frame Generation Tech Frame Rate Limit
Nvidia 40 / 50 series DLSS Coming soon
Intel / AMD / Nvidia 30 series or older FSR Your display’s refresh rate

IMPORTANT REMARKS:

  • In the current version, FSR frame generation may cause the game to crash when using resolutions with an aspect ratio other than 16:9. If you are using an ultrawide monitor, please change the aspect ratio to 16:9 or use DLSS frame generation instead. The issue is currently being investigated by Rebel Wolves and AMD and is expected to be resolved in the Day 1 Patch.
  • You may experience flickering if your FPS exceeds the refresh rate of your display. If that happens, either disable the feature or enable the frame rate limit.
  • The frame rate limit feature is available with FSR technology and will also be available with DLSS in an upcoming patch.
  • Enabling or changing the frame generation technology requires restarting the game for the changes to take effect.

Again, don’t expect this patch to resolve all of the bugs, as this was rolled out primarily for performance improvements. Expect a patch focused on bug fixes and improvements sometime after release.

Looking ahead, Rebel Wolves has promised smaller free DLCs to be released post-release.

If you’re on the fence about whether to get the game or not, check our review where we state, “In The Blood of Dawnwalker, Rebel Wolves gambled on a new IP and didn’t hold back in their ambition. Thankfully, it has paid off in spades, and from the looks of it, this is the start of a new RPG franchise. It might not have the same notoriety as The Witcher series for now, but if Rebel Wolves can produce the sequels with the same level of quality, then The Blood of Dawnwalker might just be the next great RPG series.”
