58% of The Blood of Dawnwalker Players Also Played The Witcher 3, Nearly 40% Are on Steam

The Blood of Dawnwalker seems to have attracted plenty of The Witcher fans. According to new data, 58% of people who played Rebel Wolves’ RPG have also played The Witcher 3.

It seems that Rebel Wolves’ first game — from the studio led by The Witcher 3’s director — has been, and continues to be, very popular among fans of the series created by CD Projekt.

That connection makes sense because Rebel Wolves is made up of many former The Witcher developers and CD Projekt Red staff. The studio was founded by former CD Projekt Red developers, including The Witcher 3 director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz.

For almost every game developer, the measure of whether a game is considered a success is dependent on its sales numbers, which is understandable since both the publisher and developer want to recoup their investment and earn enough to fund their next project.

According to new data from industry analysts at Alinea Analytics, nearly 58% of The Blood of Dawnwalker players have also played The Witcher 3, making it the game with the biggest player crossover.

After all, both games share similarities, such as having a main character with special powers who lives in a world that is hostile toward him but still has a lot to offer.

Other games that share players with The Blood of Dawnwalker include Mortal Shell 2 and Onimusha: Way of the Sword. About 13% of The Blood of Dawnwalker players also played Mortal Shell 2, while 9% played Onimusha: Way of the Sword.

The Blood of Dawnwalker has also passed one million copies sold. Rebel Wolves announced that the game reached the mark in its first three days on sale. Alinea Analytics estimates that around 410,000 of those sales came from Steam.

Looking ahead, the developers have already started working on expanding The Blood of Dawnwalker franchise with its next chapter.
