The Division 2 Down on August 27

Agents, you might be having issues logging in or loading The Division 2 today, August 27, and it’s not just you. Ubisoft has taken The Division 2 servers down, and this is for your standard maintenance period.

During this downtime, players will see the Red Horizon content update across all platforms.

Note that this scheduled downtime is longer than usual, so don’t be surprised if you won’t be able to login for a good chunk of the day.

The Division 2 Servers Taken Down to Bring Year 8 Season 3

Update: Complete Red Horizon patch notes are available here.

The downtime starts at 3 am ET/12 am PT/3 pm HKT and will run for approximately 6.5 hours. Yes, this is a lot longer than the three-hour or five-hour maintenance downtimes we’re used to, but hey, we are getting something new with this, right?

As for the Red Horizon update, check out our breakdown of what to expect.

The Division 2: Red Horizon — Key Points

  • Cleaners become the main threat in Washington, D.C., with the 95 Company Elite Squad playing a major role in Retaliations.
  • New Global Modifier: Under Pressure
    • A Pressure Gauge builds through kills, headshots, multikills, Skill kills, Status Effect kills, fire kills, and group kills.
    • Higher Pressure levels provide stronger bonuses.
    • Its default bonus is Status Effects, but Passive Modifiers can change it to Signature Weapon Damage or Hazard Protection.
  • Three Active Modifiers:
    • Fiery Aura: Boosts Armor Regen and Damage Resistance, sets nearby enemies on fire, and gains stronger effects at higher levels.
    • Vicarious Combustion: Burning headshots spread Burn to nearby enemies and eventually allow headshots to apply Burn directly.
    • Signed, Shield, Delivered: Improves Signature Weapons and shields while allowing certain kills to refill magazines without using reserve ammo.
  • 20 Passive Modifiers allow players to customize how Under Pressure works with their builds.
  • Hostile Modifiers can drain Pressure or punish players:
    • Draining Presence: Drains ammo and Pressure.
    • Achilles’ Heal: Heals enemies/allies and reduces Pressure.
    • Thousand Cuts: Reduces Pressure and applies stacking Damage Reduction.
  • Gear and Brand Set changes
    • Focus primarily on Red Core Gear Sets, including Ortiz: Exuro and True Patriot.
    • Several Brand bonuses are being removed, while Protection from Elites is added.
    • Future updates will favor adding Named gear to existing Brands instead of creating new Brands.
  • Steel & Sons ACR receives increased Stability, more maximum stacks, and a changed weak-point damage bonus.
  • Determined Talent reworked: It now functions like Perfect Determined and can no longer chain guaranteed headshots.
  • Iron Will Exotic Chest introduces the replacement mechanic, making the next body shot count as a headshot.
  • New Exotic weapon — Fafnir: Shotgun with a 40% chance to apply Burn and damage scaling with Status Effects.
  • New Gear Set — Ember Engine: Focuses on Status Effects and has a chance to apply Burn whenever a Status Effect is applied.
  • New Named gear and weapons include Trick Shot, Rushdown, Melon Baller, Keeper, Teapot, and Steamer.
  • Retaliation anniversary event: A special Project Chain runs September 8–22, with an Outfit Token as the main reward.
  • Retaliation Surge runs September 8–15, doubling Retaliation Faction Materials earned.
  • Dark Zone updates
    • Blackout DZ joins the rotation as a fully uncapped, non-normalized PvEvP zone.
    • Toxic DZ becomes a permanent PvE variant with several changes.
    • Toxic and Blackout DZs offer chances at contaminated caches containing exclusive, Raid, Named, and Exotic loot.
    • Prototype Gear can now drop as contaminated loot in Blackout.
  • PvP balance improvements adjust Skills, Gear Sets, Brand Sets, Talents, and weapons to make fights less focused on instant kills.
  • PvP stat display improvements: Inventory now shows PvP weapon damage, and PvP settings can be tested in the Shooting Range.
  • Blueprint and loot pool updates add several Gear Sets, Named Items, and blueprints to general loot and Inaya.
  • Numerous bug fixes address gear talents, Prototype items, UI issues, missions, Steam Deck/EAC, and more.
  • Two new Classified Assignments:
    • The District Mall Inferno — August 27.
    • The Georgetown Dead Zone — October 15.
  • Season Pass: Costs 1,000 Premium Credits ($9.99) and includes 100 tiers of premium rewards.
  • Free track includes the Iron Will Exotic Chest, Fafnir Exotic Weapon, Named gear/weapons, Exotic Caches, and Red Horizon rewards.
  • Red Horizon Bundle: $29.99, including the Premium Season Pass, two Classified Assignments, XP boost, exclusive outfit, and 20 Tier Skips.
  • Red Horizon Supply Drop: $49.99, adding 5,000 Premium Credits to the Bundle contents.

If the downtime gets extended, we’ll be sure to let our readers know. Once the title update is out, expect it here on MP1st.

In other The Division 2 news, the upcoming DLC now has a title, and it’s called “Echoes of Central Park,”
