Turkey Bans Roblox to Protect Children
Turkey has banned Roblox over issues related to child safety. The Turkish government took this step after reports of inappropriate content on the platform which is primarily used by children and young adults.
Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç announced on Twitter, “It is everyone’s duty to look out for, protect and support the best interests of our children.” He emphasized Turkey’s commitment to using technology positively and not accepting its misuse.
Roblox has faced criticism for not safeguarding its young user base. The Turkish Directorate of Communications said, “Türkiye’s Roblox ban was primarily motivated by reports of inappropriate sexual content on the platform, which was perceived as exploiting children.”
In response, Roblox said, “We are aware that Roblox is currently unavailable in Turkey and have contacted the relevant authorities to find out why and to ensure we are back online as soon as possible.” The company stressed its commitment to user safety and cooperation with local laws.
It remains to be seen what Roblox’s next move will be. We will keep you updated with any further news as it emerges.
