Xbox Studios Boss: We “Deserve a Pretty Positive Grade” for Xbox Games Showcase

Just a few weeks ago, we were treated to the Xbox Games Showcase that revealed a new DOOM game, a new Perfect Dark title, and even an announcement of the next Gears of War game titled “E-Day.” It was definitely an impressive showing, though given Nintendo and Sony didn’t exactly have showcases of their own, there’s no one else to compare it to.

That said, do you think Microsoft deserves a good grade for the recent Xbox Games Showcase? Matt Booty, the Head of Xbox Games Studios, certainly thinks so. Speaking in the latest Variety podcast, Booty was asked to grade their recent showing, and while he didn’t give a numerical or alphabetical grade, he did mention how he thinks they “deserve” a good grade.

I think as you and I discussed, we actually start the process in December. You know, getting ready for the the show here in June. So there’s an awful lot of work, very proud of our teams and the quality that they delivered. The breadth of content that was on display there was just a fantastic. If I go on  based on fan reactions and some of the press reactions that I’ve seen out there, I would say that we, you know, deserve a pretty positive grade. It’s always a big source of that’s energizing. It’s inspiring. It’s just so great for our teams to see the reactions this morning. I was watching a compilation of some of the reactions to the Gears of War trailer. And that was so great to see the fans really resonating with the approach that we’ve taken there.

Honestly, speaking, Booty does have a very good point. If I’m not mistaken, this year’s Xbox Games Showcase is one of the very few times I felt excited I owned an Xbox Series X.

Do you think Microsoft deserves a good grade for their recent showing? Or it’s not as impressive given how many studios Microsoft has gobbled up in the past few years?

In other Xbox news, Microsoft has responded to Black Myth Wukong being delayed on Xbox Series X|S, and the company seemed to imply that Sony had a hand in it.

Perhaps if this ignorant asshole hadn’t spent the weeks before dancing on the graves of the employees from a development studio that was over-performing for them, his dumb shit wish for a good grade would make sense. Yeah the games were fine looking. I can’t wait to enjoy them then watch MS layoff everyone at the studios who made them.

I mean, it was certainly  impressive.  I can  understand  folks’ rage, but…. Good is good.

Not that impressive when you take away all the Zenimax and Obsidian games that were already in development prior to microsoft buying activision.

In terms of genuine 1st party games all they showed was Fable and Flight Sim

You’re not deserving of praise for buying publishers and claiming credit for their games!
