XDefiant Crossplay Can be Turned Off; Marketing Will Ramp Up Once Game is Out

For those on console who don’t want to play against PC players in XDefiant, we have some good news, as the game’s devs have confirmed that crossplay can be turned off.

This was confirmed by XDefiant Executive Producer Mark Rubin over on Twitter in answering a fan.

For those wondering why Ubisoft doesn’t seem to be marketing or “hyping” the game up, it’s due to the game not being out yet.

Another thing confirmed for the game is a weapon inspect feature. While it won’t be available at launch, it is incoming per Rubin.

Finally, for those wondering what’s happening to the free-to-play shooter, Rubin also shared in a reply that they are working on the game’s crossplay and netcode systems, which was mentioned in the latest dev update status for the game.

Sadly, that’s all the new info on XDefiant that’s out there right now. We’re expecting a new dev update this December, and hopefully, the dev team can give us a timeframe or actual release date.

As someone who plays a lot of shooters on consoles, let’s hope there is an option to only allow console to console crossplay. I doubt that will happen, but one can hope, no?

XDefiant will be free-to-play, and is slated to release on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, with the last-gen versions coming at a later time.
