Astro Bot Update 1.008 Floats for Helium Heights Speedrun Level

As expected, Team Asobi has pushed out Astro Bot update 1.008 and this adds the Helium Heights level alongside a new bot. This is a small download clocking in at around 300MB on PS5. Read on for what to expect in today’s Astro Bot free DLC drop.

What’s New in Astro Bot Update 1.008

There’s a new speedrun level called Helium Heights, and here’s a look at it if you want to check it out first before trying:

Alongside the new level, there’s also a new bot, and it’s another familiar face from a classic PlayStation game, and it’s none other than Nariko from Heavenly Sword for the PS3.

Shame we didn’t get to see more Heavenly Sword stuff, but hey, at least the property is still in Sony’s mind, right?

Next up is Rising Heat out on November 14, and this is the last planned speedrun level that was announced before. Having said that, there are a few more bots that were named in the game’s credits that have yet to make their way into the game, which means we’ll probably see more levels and bots added in the future. Just don’t expect anyone from Final Fantasy, as Team Asobi tried to recruit some, but Square Enix wasn’t having it.

In other Astro Bot news, it seems the platformer has been a huge hit for Sony, as it has become the best-selling 3D platformer in the last decade without the name “Mario” attached to it.
