The time has finally come, guardians! Three weeks ago, Bungie announced that they were ending live-service content support for Destiny 2, and that day is today, June 9.

This brings the Monument of Triumph update to Destiny 2 and appears as version 3.97/1.192 on consoles.

Needless to say, this is one massive patch notes changelog, and to save people the trouble of reading through thousands of words, we’ve come up with a condensed version.

Destiny 2 Monument of Triumph Final Update – Everything You Need to Know

Monument of Triumph

  • New Tower monument celebrating Destiny’s history.
  • Earn Legendary Marks through Triumphs.
  • Spend Marks on free ornaments, accessories, weapon engrams, and other rewards.

Distortions

  • Rotating destination-wide world events.
  • One destination becomes “Distorted” every hour.
  • Harder enemies, visual changes, better loot, and unique rewards.

Pantheon 2.0

  • New raid boss gauntlet activities.
  • Includes revamped encounters and new rewards.
  • Full Pantheon challenge unlocks June 13.

Raids & Dungeons Overhaul

Tiered Loot System

Older raids and dungeons now drop:

  • Tiered armor with set bonuses.
  • Tiered weapons.
  • Updated craftable raid weapons.
  • More consistent high-end rewards.

Rotator Changes

Each week:

  • 2 featured raids.
  • 2 featured dungeons.
  • Featured activities offer farmable top-tier gear.

Feat Rewards Reworked

  • Feats now directly improve reward quality.
  • Highest feat grades can grant multiple Tier 5 drops.

Ops & Playlist Changes

Portal Removed

The Portal system has been retired.

  • Ops activities are now integrated directly into the Director.
  • Vanguard Ops, Nightfalls, and several legacy playlists have been reorganized.

New Ops Content

Added activities including:

  • The Lightblade
  • Scarlet Keep
  • Lake of Shadows
  • The Corrupted
  • Heist Battleground: Mars
  • Whisper
  • Zero Hour
  • Additional Override missions

Exotic Rotator Removed

Most Exotic missions move into Pinnacle Ops.

  • Exotic rewards now drop directly from completions.
  • Old seasonal rewards remain obtainable through modifiers.

Scoring & Difficulty Simplified

Major system overhaul:

  • Power level no longer affects scores.
  • Season Pass bonuses removed.
  • Difficulty directly maps to reward quality.
  • New “Rank Up” button automatically adds modifiers.
  • Matchmade difficulties now range from Expert to Grandmaster.

New Modifier

Medusa

  • Looking directly at affected enemies gradually freezes you with Stasis.

Crucible

General

  • Faster matchmaking starts for small-team playlists.
  • Numerous bug fixes and map adjustments.

Competitive

  • Competitive weapon reward replaced by a broader loot pool.
  • New emblems added.

Trials

  • Weekly maps now come from randomized map pools.
  • Featured Lighthouse weapon rotates from a curated pool.

Iron Banner

  • Tiered gear focusing added.
  • New Iron Banner Cipher system for focusing rewards.

Sparrow Racing League Returns

SRL is back with:

  • All four original Destiny 1 tracks.
  • New Quantum Circuit track.
  • Skimmers supported.
  • Rocket Starts.
  • Trick Boosts.
  • Faster overall racing.
  • Improved handling and balance.

Heavy Metal Updates

  • New Nightfall Ruins map.
  • New playable Cabal Behemoth.
  • Vehicle selection screen added.
  • Vehicle jumping enabled.
  • Match score limit lowered from 50 to 40.

Shooting Range Improvements

Added:

  • New enemy types.
  • New Champions.
  • Boss-damage test targets.
  • Nearby DPS scoreboard.
  • Jukebox.

UI & Director Overhaul

Major navigation changes:

  • Portal removed.
  • Legends node removed.
  • New Raids & Dungeons node.
  • Ops categories integrated into Destinations.
  • Gambit updated to use tiered rewards and scoring systems.
  • Various Director and Fireteam Finder improvements.

Notable Bug Fixes

Fixes for:

  • Deep Stone Crypt softlocks.
  • Vow of the Disciple knowledge exploit.
  • Root of Nightmares encounter issues.
  • Salvation’s Edge softlocks.
  • Prophecy and Grasp of Avarice bugs.
  • Numerous Ops, Crucible, and campaign progression issues.

It’s not just gamers who are mourning the death of Destiny 2, as even Warframe’s game director has mentioned how “no world where it makes sense” that support for the game should be ending.
