Ubisoft Reminds Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Player Microtransactions Are “Entirely Optional” and “Never a Requirement” to Complete the Game
While Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced isn’t just a visual enhancement of the original, as Ubisoft overhauls the combat, adds hours of new story content, and more.
Another thing Ubisoft added? Microtransactions. Black Flag Resynced offers a ton of microtransaction elements that range from your standard outfits to even a map-reveal pack.
It seems a single-player game with this many microtransactions didn’t sit well with players, and Ubisoft has posted a reminder.
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Receives Negative Reviews Due to MTX
On Steam, one negative review lamenting about the microtransactions managed to get a response from Ubisoft. One developer that goes by the name Ubi-Lostinweb reminded gamers that the microtransactions are purely optional, and not needed to complete or enjoy the game.
“We’ve seen your feedback since launch, and we’re reading all of it. Thank you for caring this much about Black Flag Resynced. We want to be clear on one point: the standard edition is the full, complete experience. Every mission, every island, the full story and the complete world are all there, with nothing held back. The additional packs are entirely optional extras for players who want them, never a requirement to enjoy or complete the game,” the developer said in response.
Ubisoft does have a point. Everything sold in the game as microtransactions is purely cosmetic, or items that will benefit the player alone. Given there is no multiplayer component, it’s not like there’s a pay-to-win scenario here either.
