Rumor – Is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 In Development at Sledgehammer Games?

Its appears that the Modern Wardare sub-series of the Call of Duty franchise is not dead after all, despite creators Infinity Ward moving on to a brand new universe with Call of Duty: Ghosts.

As many already know, the last title in the sub-series, Modern Warfare 3, was not only in development at Infinity Ward studios, but was also co-developed with Sledgehammer Games. However, it was recently unveiled that Sledgehammer Games would would not be joining Infinity Ward’s side in development of Call of Duty: Ghosts. Instead, they would reportedly be “heads down” in their own project.

A number of rumors have since come and gone as to what the the studio might have in the works, but a recently spotted LinkedIn profile of Sledgehammer Games Senior VFX Artist Rob Valdivia hints that the team is indeed working on a title dedicated to continuing the Modern Warfare series.

Originally spotted by playst4tion (via, stickskills) the listing indicates that Valdivia is “responsible for developing photo real visual effects for the next Call of Duty – Modern Warfare release.

If the listing legitimately leads us to anything, it’s that the next and upcoming Modern Warfare title, quite possibly Modern Warfare 4, will feature “photo real visual effects.”

What do you guys think? Might a Modern Warfare 4 be in the works at Sledgehammer Games?

Thanks, Dougie, for the tip!
