Ghost Recon: Future Soldier Update Process Explained

Ubisoft and Red Storm have shed some light on how they plan on supporting the recently released Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. The team behind GRFS “continues to work hard, improving the game experience, supporting the title and listening to the feedback,” states Ubisoft on the game’s official blog.

Here are the types of updates Future Soldiers can expect from Red Storm:

Game Updates

  • Cloud Update: these include mostly balance fixes and tweaks, although sometimes bug fixes are included. These do not require any effort on a user’s part; they are transparent and happen in the background. We released several Cloud Updates during the Beta and we will release several in the future, including the next one in a few days.
  • Title Update: these include bug fixes and feature updates; items that are either too large for cloud updates or require additional modifications to the game. You are automatically prompted to install these when launching the game. The first update was made available on launch day following the Beta, and we’re working to prep a new title update for distribution soon.
  • DLC: these include new content, for example maps and game types. These are the largest updates and require a user to manually trigger the download. Remember, DLC pack Arctic Strike releases next month.

Infrastructure Updates

  • We have already and are continuing to make updates to the server infrastructure, both on software and hardware. Most, if not all, of these changes are transparent to the end user.

The PC version of Ghost Recon: Future Soldier is set to release on June 26th in North America (29th in UK, 28th in rest of Europe).
