While Battlefield 5 might be hogging the news given it’s the latest Battlefield game out, DICE is still supporting Battlefield 1! There’s a Battlefield 1 new game mode update (or a new playlist if you want to be more specific), and it’s Frontlines with Back to Basics rules!

This was announced today by DICE Producer Jaqub Ajmal over on Twitter.

For those who haven’t booted up Battlefield 1, or just not familiar with the mode, here’s what Frontlines is all about (via Battlefield wiki):

Frontlines is a gamemode featured in Battlefield 1 and Battlefield V. It was originally introduced in the Battlefield 1: They Shall Not Pass expansion. It combines Conquest and Rush gameplay in a single map. Each team has a base with two telegraphs. A line of flags joins the two bases, with all flags needing to be captured in order to attach telegraphs in a game of tug-a-war.

As for Back to Basics, it’s a variant of fan-favorite mode Conquest, where no automatic weapons are allowed (goodbye Hellriegel!), and players can only use bolt action rifles. Go old school, soldier!

Are you still playing Battlefield 1? How do you stack it up against Battlefield 5 and what modes do you want to see in the future? Share your thoughts down below in the comments.
