New Steam Controller Price Leaks Early, Costs More Than PS5 and Xbox Controllers
Sometimes leaks happen before companies are ready to announce anything, and that seems to be the case here with Valve’s new controller. An early review posted online may have revealed one of the most important details before Valve had the chance to make it official.
The price of the new Steam Controller appears to have leaked after YouTube channel Techy Talk accidentally published its review of the device too early, likely before Valve’s embargo had ended.
New Steam Controller Price Leaked Early at $99
In the video, which was later deleted but then shared again across social media, it was said that the controller will cost 99 dollars. Compared to other controllers, this is around 25 dollars more than the PS5 DualSense and about 35 dollars more than the standard Xbox Wireless Controller.
In the review, Techy Talk also pointed out several strong features of the new Steam Controller, many of which were already mentioned by Valve. These include four fully programmable back buttons through Steam Input, two front touchpads that help with navigation and can also replace analog sticks in some games, vibration support, magnetic TMR sticks, and the double function of the puck, which allows both charging and connection through USB or Bluetooth.
The price is seen as the main question mark. It is not cheap, but at the same time, the controller offers features that normal PS5 and Xbox controllers do not have. Because of this, the 99-dollar price could make sense, placing it somewhere between a basic controller and more expensive premium controllers.
