If you’ve been waiting for Control Resonant, there’s finally some good news after a period of silence. When Remedy first announced the sequel toward the end of 2025, they already said it was planned for 2026, but since then, updates have been limited, which made some people think the game might be delayed.

Now, based on its recent financial report, Control Resonant is further along than many expected.

Control Resonant is Targeting Q2 2026 Launch

In their latest Q1 2026 financial report, Remedy’s new CEO, Jean-Charles Gaudechon, confirmed that Control Resonant remains on track for a 2026 release. The game is already in its alpha development stage, with the studio calling it a top priority internally. The sequel is being co-produced with Annapurna Pictures.

Remedy is putting a lot of focus on this sequel. The company called it a “must have day-one purchase” and confirmed that a big global marketing campaign is starting as the launch gets closer.

CEO Jean-Charles Gaudechon also said that 2026 has started well for the company, especially thanks to the announcement of Control Resonant, which helped boost sales of the first game. Speaking of that, the original Control from 2019 is still doing very well. It has now sold over 6 million copies as of Q1 2026.

Recently, Remedy has also shared the first details about New Game Plus (NG+) for Control Resonant. Unlike the original game, this sequel is designed as an action RPG that encourages multiple playthroughs. Players will be able to carry over Dylan Faden’s abilities, talents, and artifacts from their first run, while traversal abilities will not carry over since they are tied to story progress. The mode will also give players a chance to find missed items and explore different outcomes.

Control Resonant will feature Dylan Faden, Jesse’s brother, as the main character, and the setting will be a larger and more open version of Manhattan. It’s planned to release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Mac.

At the same time, Remedy also shared updates on other projects. The Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake, developed with Rockstar Games, has moved into full production. A new, still unnamed project has reached the proof-of-concept stage. Meanwhile, the multiplayer spin-off FBC: Firebreak has received its final major content update, called “Open House.”

As more news and rumors emerge about these projects, we’ll make sure to keep you updated here at MP1st.
