Crimson Desert DLC Being Explored by Pearl Abyss; Two New Titles in Development
One of the biggest surprises of the year so far has been Pearl Abyss’ single-player RPG, Crimson Desert. The title, which was released on March 19, has already achieved five million sales across PC and consoles, making it one of the year’s most successful games commercially.
While the studio hasn’t been lacking in providing post-release support when it comes to bug fixes, gameplay improvements and even adding in new features via game updates, Pearl Abyss has more planned for the game, and this includes an expansion (DLC).
This is something the company has teased, though there’s not a lot to go on right now.
Crimson Desert DLC Planned by Pearl Abyss to Bring the RPG to the “Next Level”
Pearl Abyss revealed its financial report for the first quarter of 2026, and in it, the studio talked about Crimson Desert’s stellar commercial performance and how the company is looking at DLC. The report states, “Crimson Desert will continue to focus on enhancing user satisfaction and driving new sales through continuous updates, while expanding its market presence through platform expansion. In addition, we are currently exploring various ways to broaden the game to the next level including DLC. We will share the details once the concrete plans are set.”
In the same report, Pearl Abyss confirmed they have two titles in active development with the codenames “DokeV” and Plan 8.”
The company plans to release a new title every 2-3 years, which means Crimson Desert is but the start of Pearl Abyss’ long-term plans.
Talking about it more, the company shares, “Furthermore, DokeV and Plan 8, two new titles are in development. With the goal of maintaining a new title release cycle of every 2-3 years, we will prioritize resources on DokeV to accelerate development. In addition, DokeV is currently in the pre-production stage, and we will share updates as development progresses.”
To date, Plan 8 is in the Plan 8 is currently in the conceptualization, while they are “focusing resources” for the development of DokeV.
This is a huge step up from a studio mostly known for Black Desert. If Pearl Abyss can maintain the same level of commitment to their new projects as they have for Crimson Desert, then gamers are in for a treat.
Speaking of which, the latest update for Crimson Desert was pushed out last week, and this brought in new pets and features via a game update.
