Black Ops and Black Ops 2 Added to PSN Store Backend; Suggests Announcement Incoming
A week ago, the Korean Ratings Board filed ratings for Call of Duty: Black Ops and Black Ops 2, which means either remasters are on the way or the games are being re-released digitally.
It seems more evidence has surfaced today, as both titles have been uploaded to the PlayStation Store, signifying that this is more than just a Game Pass release.
If so, an announcement should happen soon.
Black Ops and Black Ops 2 Clients Are Now on PSN
On the PlayStation Store, multi-region versions of Black Ops and Black Ops 2 have been uploaded, with Title ID codes CUSA57547 and CUSA57548, respectively. By our count, the US, EU and JP versions of the games have been added, which is par for the course for most games.
This means these PS3 titles have been uploaded to the PSN backend, so they will be released at some point rather than just streamed via the cloud.
Chances are, these are re-releases, though the big question here is: will it feature multiplayer? We can’t say for sure currently, but we are digging around.
Black Ops and Black Ops 2 are widely considered to be some of the best Call of Duty games in history. Personally, I consider Black Ops 2 the best multiplayer iteration not just of the Black Ops brand, but of Call of Duty as a whole.
If the multiplayer does come out alongside the campaign re-releases, that would be a welcome treat for Call of Duty fans who have been slighted by Activision in recent years.
In other Call of Duty news, this year’s iteration — Modern Warfare 4 — will allegedly “feel authentic” as the devs claim no celebrity and cartoon skins will appear in the game.
Modern Warfare 4 will be released on October 23, and if we hear when Black Ops and its sequel will be released, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.
