Xbox has been dealing with a wave of negative reports in recent weeks, including rumors about studio closures and uncertainty surrounding several of its development teams.

According to recent reports, studios such as Ninja Theory, Double Fine and Compulsion Games have been looking at different options, including the possibility of becoming independent.

At the same time, a new rumor suggested that Xbox was preparing to go fully multiplatform and stop focusing on exclusive games. However, Xbox Chief Strategy Officer Matthew Ball has now denied those claims.

Xbox Denies Rumors That It Is Dropping Exclusive Games

The discussion started after insider Jez Corden commented on reports that Xbox could be about to change direction with its exclusives, despite announcing new exclusive titles only days ago.

He said, “Exclusive games is a foundation of the strategy for post memory crisis. Just how far they go with it remains to be seen… obviously. Microsoft/Satya likes to change strategy and create uncertainty a lot.”

Ball responded directly to the claim and dismissed it. He stated, “These rumors are false. Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution will stay exclusive. There are no conversations and have been no conversations to “reverse course.” And as we said last week, players can continue to expect signature exclusives from us every year.”

Ball also repeated that Xbox plans to continue releasing exclusive games in the future and that new exclusives will arrive every year. His comments are notable because he is the first senior Xbox executive to publicly address the recent reports. Other key figures, including Asha Sharma and Matt Booty, have so far remained silent.

Considering this, Xbox’s position is clear: the company is not abandoning exclusive games, and more are still on the way.

In other news. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella says Xbox must become a sustainable business, admitting that YouTube monetizes Xbox games more than they do.
