Xbox Series and One System Update 10.0.26100 for October 7 Is a Minor Firmware Patch
Microsoft has released Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One update 10.0.26100, and this is a small download.
As one might expect given the big September firmware patch, this one for October 7 is a lot smaller in scope and deals more with stability than anything else.
Xbox System Update Deployed on October 7, Though It’s Nothing to Get Excited About
Per Microsoft, the patch applies:
- General stability and performance improvements
Again, we’re not surprised by this, given that in September, Microsoft launched the highly anticipated disc-to-digital licensing feature.
The rundown of the feature is as follows:
Disc to digital licensing on XBOX is a new way to make many of your disc-based games easier to access wherever you play. With a disc to digital license, you can experience the benefits of digital, including XBOX Play Anywhere and XBOX Cloud Gaming where supported, while your physical disc continues to work exactly as it always has.
You will receive a digital license when playing any supported XBOX One or XBOX Series X game disc while signed in. If you do not see a confirmation message when launching the game, then the disc is not supported or you’ve already received the digital license.
A disc to digital license is associated with the qualifying game disc. If you lose, sell, give away, or otherwise no longer possess the disc, you may lose access to the license. To regain access, you will need to either regain possession of the disc and play it while signed into your account or purchase a new digital version from the Microsoft store.
In other Xbox-related news, the next Gears of War won’t take as long as E-Day to develop, promises The Coalition.
