Lords of the Fallen 2 Delayed to Q1 2027
Originally set for release sometime this year, CI Games has officially delayed Lords of the Fallen 2.
With Grand Theft Auto 6 releasing in November, lots of games are jockeying to release before Rockstar’s behemoth swallows everything in its path, and September is the targeted release month by a lot of publishers.
Thankfully, CI Games has enough sense not to force the issue and is instead using this time to further refine the action-RPG.
Lords of the Fallen 2 Releasing Outside of a Very Busy Holiday Period
Over on X, CI Games founder Marek Tyminski posted a message stating, “As development progresses, we have worked closely with the Gameplay Feedback Team, a dedicated group of seasoned Souls-like veterans within our Launch Creative Team. Their valuable ongoing input, combined with the team’s vision, has identified meaningful opportunities to further refine and strengthen the overall experience.”
It’s not just about refinement either, as Tyminski also mentioned this puts the game out of the super competitive holiday release window of 2026, “These enhancements will benefit from additional integration, iteration, and polishing time, enabling the team to deliver the highest possible quality at launch. This updated release window also strategically positions Lords of the Fallen II outside of a highly competitive holiday period, ensuring the game receives the dedicated attention it deserves.”
More updates for the action-RPG will be shared in the coming months, as the development team “remains fully energized by the strong response to our recent reveals and is deeply focused on delivering a standout dark fantasy action RPG and a worthy successor to the Lords of the Fallen franchise”
Given September is jam-packed with games of all kinds of genres, and everyone is avoiding releasing near GTA 6, it’s understandable if more publishers opt to delay their games to 2027. I wouldn’t be surprised if this is but the first of many games being pushed to 2027.
Hopefully, CI Games supports the sequel as much as the first game, which still sees patches for bug fixes and improvements even to this year.
