Report: Battlefield 6 Mass Effect “N7” Cosmetics Removed Following BioWare Closure and Game Cancellation
While Battlefield 6 players are busy taking out mobs in the game’s Dead Space crossover event, it seems DICE had another one planned for next month.
Based on cosmetics spotted by the community, it looks like Battlefield 6 was going to feature new cosmetics based on the Mass Effect franchise.
However, given that EA just closed down BioWare this week, and the new Mass Effect game was canned, it doesn’t make sense to have these cosmetics available.
Battlefield 6’s N7 Day Cosmetics Pulled
For those unaware, in the Mass Effect franchise, the term”N7″ was used as a military code used by the Systems Alliance to designate an elite special forces operative with the highest level of training. N7 was then used for November 7 to mark Mass Effect Day.
It seems DICE has added N7 cosmetics to Battlefield 6, though they have since been pulled, which isn’t surprising given that the new Mass Effect game has been canceled and its developer, BioWare, has been shut down.
Community members (and Mass Effect News) previously spotted the cosmetics in the game, but they are now unavailable. These included a weapon charm of the Normandy, N7 operator patches, N7 weapon decals, and more.
No word on whether EA permanently pulled the items or if DICE will roll them out come November 7. We’ve emailed EA to seek further clarification on this.
This isn’t the first time the Mass Effect franchise is crossing over with Battlefield, as Battlefield 2042 also saw N7 items pop up when the game was still supported with seasonal content.
Speaking of Mass Effect, the fifth entry was supposed to be called Mass Effect: Universe, and a trailer for it leaked, along with a trove of game info.
In other Battlefield 6 news, development teams under the Battlefield Studios banner were also hit with this week’s layoffs, despite the game being the #1 best-selling premium game of 2025.
