Fortnite Update 5.23 Applies Fixes on October 6
Last week, Epic Games released Fortnite’s Fortnitemares, which brought back our usual Halloween-themed activities and rewards.
Unfortunately, it also brought in some bugs, some of which are already known by the developers.
Today, some of those bugs are squashed with Fortnite update 5.23, which is live on all platforms. For the known issues and fixes, read on.
Fortnite Receives New Update on October 6 to Bring Fixes

Fortnitemares items are getting some more improvements! See below for what’s changed:
- Freddy’s Nightmare now has increased movement speed and reduced stamina cost while using tactical sprint. Time to put your enemies to sleep… and into a nightmare.
- Dual Fiend Hunters have improved accuracy while aiming down sights
- We’ve greatly reduced Rebecca’s Guns damage to structures and slightly slowed its reload speed.
When it comes to known issues, the dev team shared the following from the v42.30 patch (accurate as of today):
Battle Royale & Zero Build

The Mega Buster’s charged shot currently doesn’t deal its intended area damage.

Weak Points may not appear when hitting a destructible object on Nintendo Switch 2.

Some Cheat Codes in Wonkeeland may overlap and can’t be interacted with.

Custom keyboard bindings for certain Vehicles may not apply in-game, reverting to default.

After consuming one, the Shield Potion’s slurp glow effect may persist till the end of the match.

Reboot Vans may not be activated by tapping their on-screen icon.

We are looking into a visual issue where it appears players cannot tap certain perks in Horde Rush.

The map may appear misaligned during Missions.

Fortnite Festival

[Pro Parts] The lane divider is incorrectly appearing during Pro Parts gameplay.

[Main Stage] The Auto-Emote setting may not always apply correctly.

[Main Stage] The in-game Song Menu (Restart / Return to Backstage) cannot be navigated using the D-pad on controller – the analog stick remains unaffected and works as expected.

[Main Stage] The Shared filter in the Music Library is not applying correctly.

[Pro Lead / Pro Bass] The green fret on guitar peripherals can stop responding during Local Multiplayer.

[Pro Drums] Hitting two cymbal gems simultaneously can cause an unintended streak break.

[Pro Drums] Scoring discrepancies may occur when playing with Lefty Flip enabled.

The Music Library may display an incorrect number or an incorrect array of scores, and may be difficult to scroll through.

Instrument peripherals may have trouble connecting to the PC due to recent software constraints.

We’re investigating reports of enemies and creatures not spawning in some worlds. In the meantime, exiting and reloading back into your world can often bring them back.
