Rumor: GTA 6 PC Release Planned for Q1 2027
While Grand Theft Auto 5 for PC was released a year and six months after its initial release on PS3 and Xbox 360, it seems that for GTA 6, PC players won’t have to wait that long.
GTA 6 is slated for release this November on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and while Take-Two Interactive hasn’t mentioned a PC release, it’s an inevitable thing given how big the PC player base is, and y’know, Take-Two loves money.
If this new rumor that surfaced today is accurate, then PC players will be playing GTA 6 a lot sooner than expected.
Latest Rumor Points to GTA 6 on PC Out Early Next Year
The new rumor comes from GamesBeat, which claims that “four industry sources familiar with the studio’s plans,” who have requested “anonymity to avoid damaging business relationships,” have confirmed that GTA 6 will be released in Q1 2027.
Rockstar has not responded to a request to comment on the rumor.
If true, this wouldn’t be surprising given how almost every game is released day-and-date on consoles and PC, and with the advancement of emulation and whatnot, GTA 6 could unofficially be running on PC via the homebrew scene, and that’s something Take-Two probably doesn’t want.
Also of note, Rockstar has updated GTA 6’s modding policy months before the game’s even out on consoles, and mods are usually a PC-only feature.
Of course, treat this with a grain of salt for now, given Take-Two hasn’t made any official announcements. Not only that, but GTA 6 isn’t even available on consoles yet, and there’s a lot that can happen from today to November 19.
If Take-Two does announce this, expect publishers to steer clear of its release date even if it’s just the PC version. I also expect gamers to double-dip, given we can expect better visuals on PC, and the allure of mods (yes, gooners gonna goon).
GTA 6 will be released on November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and you can check the exact time you’ll be able to play it when it’s available.
