Over 18,000 Games Released on Steam in 2025, But Half Have Fewer Than 10 Reviews

Getting noticed on Steam these days is very hard. Unless you have some money to spend on marketing, your game might never be seen.

This year alone, over 18,000 new games have appeared on the platform. To be exact, 18,015 titles have launched so far, and the number keeps rising as 2025 comes to an end.

Half of Steam’s New Games Struggle to Get Even 10 Reviews

Interestingly, about half of these games have received fewer than 10 reviews, which shows how hard it is for small developers to get noticed when there are so many new games and little money for marketing.

According to data from SteamDB, 6,608 games have between 1 and 9 reviews, and 2,174 have none at all. That’s 8,782 titles, or about 49% of all releases, that went almost completely unnoticed.

The remaining games weren’t necessarily big hits either. 4,952 titles received between 10 and 49 reviews, while 1,373 were in the 50 to 99 range. Only 1,103 games managed to get over 500 reviews — still a significant number, given that a few major free-to-play and live-service games usually get most of the players’ attention for a long time.

Overall, 2025 has been an exceptionally busy year for Steam releases. By the end of the year, the platform may match or even surpass the 2024 record of 18,567 published games. Still, it’s hard not to feel a bit of sadness knowing that among all these overlooked titles, there might be many hidden gems.

With new games coming out every day and older ones often on sale, it’s hard for players to keep up with everything released on Steam.

In related news, a report based on data from Gamalytic suggests that approximately 40% of Steam games earned less than $100 and failed to recover the $100 listing fee.
