A new iOS update is making it’s way to iPhones (and other apple products,) and it’s a big one for anyone who uses remote play as the new OS adds Xbox Series & DualSense controller support for iPhones.

Packed with plenty of new features, and improvements, this new iOS update is now available on select iPhones and iPads. While there are some notable features included in this update, since we are a gaming website we’ll focus on the big one, that being full support for the new Xbox Series & DualSense controller for iPhones.

Yep, no more having to use the touchscreen (though the option remains) as full pairing is now possible on iPhones updated to iOS 14.5. Here’s a quick guide on how to can pair either controllers to your iPhone (or iPad).

How to Pair Dualsense Controller to iPhone

  1. On your iPhone open Settings
  2. Click on Bluetooth
  3. Using the DualSense controller, hold both the center PS button and the share button (button on the left side of the touch pad) until the controller flashes. This will put it into discovery mode.
  4. You should now see the Dualsense controller as a pairable device. Click it, and it should be paired. 

How to Pair Xbox Series Controller to iPhone

  1. On your iPhone open Settings
  2. Click on Bluetooth
  3. On the Xbox Series controller, click and hold the pairing button (above the USB-C port) for three seconds it in discovery mode.
  4. You should now see the Xbox Series controller as a pairable device. Click it, and it should be paired. 

Congratulations! You can now use your Xbox Series or DualSense controller while gaming on your device, pretty cool right? This should definitely help those who dislike the touch controller, especially during streaming either through XCloud (Xbox) or remote play (PS4, PS5).
