Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Will Feature Autopilot for the Ship; All Side Activities Rebuilt From Ground Up
In case you didn’t know, Ubisoft has (finally!) officially announced the Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag remake, which we broke the story of last year.
Titled “Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced,” this re-release is more than just a visual upgrade, as the developers are also introducing a slew of new features and even new content.
While Ubisoft isn’t ready to share everything new just yet, the developers have been given the green light to talk about some of the new features confirmed to be in the remake.
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Side Missions Completely Reworked From the Ground Up
In a recent AMA (Ask Me Anything), developers Paul Fu (Creative Director) and Richard Knight (Game Director) fielded questions from the community.
One of the things confirmed by the developers is how Resynced’s side missions have been remade from the ground up.
Knight mentioned, “All side activities from the original return and were rebuilt from the ground up. Royal Convoys are in the game, but finding them won’t be easy! As for social chests, a pirate never confirms or denies the existence of his treasure.”
In the same answer comment, Knight confirmed that DNA sequences will not be making a comeback, and talked about the game’s Wanted System. “We use the classic Wanted System from Black Flag, where Pirate Hunters will sail in and stalk you based on your wanted level. Higher wanted level = stronger and more pirate hunters on the look-out. You can reduce your bounty by boarding ships or by paying bribes to corrupt officers.”
The developers also confirmed they’re looking at the parry VFX being “too loud,” and are currently looking at it. There’s also good news when it comes to HUD elements and customization.
Fu shared, “We saw some of the feedback on the Parry VFX being too “loud” visually, and we’re actively exploring this as we speak 😄 You’ll definitely be able to customize UI and HUD options including turning off the VFX, although we recommend keeping it on as you get used to the timing of enemy attacks.”
AC Black Flag Resynced Auto-Pilot for Ships Confirmed
Another question asked whether the ship can auto-pilot while the player walks around. Knight answered, “We’ve added Pathfinder for naval for Black Flag Resynced, and the ship now supports autopilot. Edwards hands must stay at the wheel though – you never know when an attack is coming…”
Finally, the devs shared details on the game engine they’re using, which is based on Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ tech.
“The Anvil engine at the heart of Shadows is at the heart of Black Flag Resynced too, giving us access to everything from Raytracing and RTGI to better sound, dynamic weather, destructible objects and more. And specifically for Black Flag Resynced, the Anvil watertech team has been a critical part of the experience in giving us the best naval experience yet,” per Knight.
For the different editions, and pre-order bonuses, we have that listed.
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced releases July 9 on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
