Baldur’s Gate 3 Download Version 1.800 Prematurely Released for Patch 8 on PS5
In case you didn’t know, Larian Studios is hard at work on Patch 8 that enables crossplay, adds new subclasses and more for all platforms. Given the size of the patch, Larian is looking to playtest this first before unleashing it to all players. However, those on PS5, it seems the patch was prematurely released, as players can now download version 1.800, though it’s not the official release of Patch 8.
This was confirmed by Larian Studios, who also offered a warning regarding save states.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 8 Accidentally Released as Update 1.800
Larian said, “No, the Patch 8 stress test hasn’t yet begun. Yes, PS5 players do currently have access to Patch 8. While we work with our partners to understand what’s going on, please note that any new saves made while on Patch 8 will not be compatible with Patch 7.”
We haven’t tested the patch ourselves and whether this delivers the complete Patch 8 experience. Chances are, players will get a rollback patch very soon, with this version scrapped. Expect the official Patch 8 release to be under a different version number (though we can be wrong about that). Expect a ton of stuff about Patch 8 to be leaked very soon, thanks to this accidental update rollout.
Aside from crossplay, Patch 8 will also introduce 12 new subclasses:
- Bard – College of Glamour
- Barbarian – Path of Giants
- Cleric – Death Domain
- Druid – Circle of Stars
- Paladin – Oath of the Crown
- Fighter – Arcane Archer
- Monk – Drunken Master
- Ranger – Swarmkeeper
- Rogue – Swashbuckler
- Sorcerer – Shadow Magic
- Warlock – Hexblade
- Wizard – Bladesinging
Larian Studios has also promised Photo Mode to be part of the patch rollout, another community-requested feature finally being added to the hit RPG.
We’ll provide an update once we know more about Larian’s plans regarding the download. While we expect a rollback version to be released, Larian can’t force people to apply the patch, especially if they don’t care about playing online.
If you’re playing with Patch 8 installed, be prepared for crashes and various issues, as it hasn’t been tested yet.
