Battlefield 2042 Coming to Xbox Game Pass With Season 3 Launch

battlefield 2042 update 3.1.2 stealth changes

With the new dev update today, DICE has announced that Battlefield 2042 is finally coming to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, and will be made available for free to EA Play subscribers as well. Battlefield 2042 will also be free for a limited time across all platforms in December.

As the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC tiers have included EA Play titles for no additional cost since late 2020, EA’s Battlefield 3, Battlefield 4, Battlefield Bad Company 2, and Battlefield 1 Revolution are already available on Microsoft’s subscription-based gaming service. However, two seasons in, 2021’s Battlefield 2042 has not joined the Game Pass catalog, most likely to maximize actual sales for as long as possible.

Almost exactly a year after launch, that is now changing. Battlefield 2042 will be added to the EA Play catalog with the launch of Season 3 a few weeks from now, and become an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate offering as well. As the PC tier also includes EA Play, it is reasonable to assume that Xbox Game Pass PC subscribers will also be able to play Battlefield 2042.

Additionally, a Battlefield 2042 free trial week will also be offered across all platforms in December:

  • Xbox: December 1 (12:01AM PT/3:01AM ET) – December 4 (11:59PM PT/2:59AM ET)
  • Steam: December 1 (10AM PT/1PM ET) – December 5 (10AM PT/1PM ET)
  • PlayStation: December 16 (8AM PT/11AM ET) – December 23 (8AM PT/11AM ET)

Battlefield 2042 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.
