With DICE’s roll out of Battlefield 2042’s title update 2.1 yesterday, not only did we get a new map rework, vehicles and adjustments, but there’s once again a slew of hidden changes made to the game too! Once again. we are here to bring the Battlefield 2042 patch 2.1 stealth changes list, which comes straight from the community.

Before diving in, note that some of the hidden changes listed might be tied to a specific platform, or it might be different based on the platform you’re on. Also, this isn’t the complete list. as more stuff are being discovered apparently.

Battlefield 2042 Patch 2.1 Stealth Changes:

All stealth changes that community found out about:

  • #1 New headshot, kill and damage sounds

    Audio changes to headshots, multikills, squad spawning on you and turning on/off the laser beam, hitting vehicles. All new and only the laser one mentioned in patch notes

    I’m 99% sure they added a new sound to “location revealed”. I discovered it when out of bounds in rush

    And I think they added sounds when badges get awarded too.

  • #2 Skins for the US BF3 tank, RU BF3 LAV and bomber
  • #3 AKS74u removed from portal but does have a T1 badge in AOW
  • #4 Nightbird rockets are back to rapid fire
  • #5 Input latency for controller also seems improved, it feels more responsive (I play on PS5)
  • #6 New intro lines for breakthrough on Renewal
  • #7 They added a sound effect for when you successfully hit someone with the concussion (sounds like clunk), and also the P90 is great.
  • #8 Might be celebrating too early but weapon stutter doesnt happen for me any more (praise the lord!!!)
  • #9 The spotting scope in the scout heli no longer puts a red dot above enemies. It still makes the beep that it spotted an enemy, but the nothing appears above the enemy.

    This might be a bug with the Renewal rework and I haven’t had a chance to try it on other maps. I just happened to notice it when I was spotting for a squad mate earlier when I was checking out the Renewal map rework.

  • #10 I think there’s a new repair tool repairing animation. Need someone to confirm, please.
  • #11 You seem to be able to hack vehicles through walls nows using rao
  • #12 Update 2.0 added a black outline for some HUD elements like the current score. Update 2.1 removed that again

  • #13 Soflam is 4x/12x instead of 3/6 by the numbers on them. I’m pretty sure 2.0 was still 3/6 but I could be wrong.
  • #14 LVG blast radius and dmg seems to be nerfed

    Edit: M16 and M60 have been buffed (working correctly)

  • #15 Nightbirds move faster and their anti-personnel rockets restock faster also.
  • #16 New SFX when you destroy enemie’s equipment such as spawn becon
  • #17 I believe they changed the battle pass unlock colors. Battle pass unlocks are gold/yellow, while the free ones are white making them better to distinguish
  • #18 Bugged charms (teabag and old one for example) and boris helmet can be finally equipped
  • #19 I’ve noticed I’m no longer forced to spawn in at the start of a match now. I don’t know if it’s intentional or not but it’s nice!
  • #20 Polaris RZR replaced the Polaris Sportsman spawns on Renewal (in the garage, near the array).
  • #21 About 2 updates ago they made it so indoor flag points don’t blow in the wind. Was that ever mentioned in notes or was it a stealth update? – no it wasn’t.
  • #22 Lis missile red light is WAY brighter and easier to spot now, If coming directly at you.
  • #23 Jet 25mm seems to overheat faster. Situations that were previously one-pass kills on condors no longer feasible.

    Could someone confirm?

    Can confirm change #23, the jet 25mm overheats much quicker now. The tracer size was also reduced

  • #24 I can’t say definitively, as I played only 1 round on Stranded and about 5 min on the ReNEWal, but I swear to God aim assist on controller seems “snappier”.

    Can anyone else corroborate?

    Yes. Feels really nice now imo.

    Much easier to track targets.

    No input lag and aim assist is perfect.

    No idea what DICE did, but keep it like this please!

    Extremely smooth and responsive.

    Way less performance issues too on PS5.

    Hardly any stuttering.

    Also did they add more foley FX on some of the maps?

    Manifest for example… I swear I can hear more wind.

  • #26 New “secret” reload animation for M416

    Guns now have Rare reloads like in previous games.

  • #27 In the first screen at the end of a round, they have swapped “Captures” with “Kills and assists” So now it goes Captures | Kills and Assists | Revives instead of Kills and Assists | Captures | Revives
  • #28 The fixed a bug I’ve been complaining about since launch: When set to toggle-ADS, the SMGs used to behave as if on hold-to-ADS if you accidentally held your mouse click too long. This is finally gone!
  • #29 AC-42 lost one of it’s Holo Sight. The “UH-1 Smart 1.5X” holo sight is no longer avaliable for AC-42.
  • #30 I got a 5xp popup for squad order followed today. Is that in the game now? Has it been added earlier already? Never noticed it anyway.
  • #31 Lis G-84 TGM missile does splash damage to infantry again.

    It looks like the blast radius is smaller than it was before they removed it completely, but it’s not zero any more.

  • #32 Is it just me or is climbing ladders incredibly slow now? Noticed this on the big greenhouse building on Renewal
  • #33 Not sure if it’s a bug or an isolated instance, AI no longer revive, I had one standing on top of me 1m away and never attempted to res, at first I thought there were too many enemies, however it happened 2 more times way out of combat. Xbox One playing BT on reNEWal
  • #34 They updated the skybox on Stranded and is much more detailed now.

    I specifically noticed this because originally I disliked the skybox on the map – it felt overtly blue and it also looked like I was in a dome rather than a vast sky that went on for miles, which felt surprising coming from DICE. Super glad they updated it!

  • #35 The magtap on the M16 reload animation looks faster and snappier
  • #36 Major stealth nerf to the pf51, does 15-13-12 damage from its pre-patch values of 22-18-15. damage ranges remain unchanged (0-10, 11-75, 75+ for standard, 0-20, 21-50, 51+ for subsonic)
  • #37 the M1911 has also smg profile
  • #38 slug ammo dmg was increased by 25% up to 50m (now dealing 75 dmg per body shot instead of 60)
  • #39 PF51 nerf:

    0-10m: 15 dmg (was 22 in 2.0)

    10-75m: 13 dmg (was 18 in 2.0)

    75m+: 12 dmg (was 15 in 2.0)

We’ll update the list as more hidden changes are found. Speaking of found items, a slew of new skins, Battlefield Portal weapons and more have just been datamined from the 2.1 patch, too.
