With the Battlefield 6 Open Beta now over, DICE has wisely rolled out a surprise content drop to Battlefield 2042 that not only includes the return of Iwo Jima, new weapons, and more, but also missions players can complete in order to earn rewards that can be used in Battlefield 6.

Battlefield 2042 Player Count Skyrockets After BF6 Beta Withdrawal

Over on Steam, Battlefield 2042 has over 18,000 players, with the 24-hour peak hitting 20,000 earlier today. This is a stark contrast to the game’s daily average, which is around 3,000, with the game rarely hitting 5,000 players. Mind, this is on Steam alone, the total player count of BF2042 will be even higher if you factor in the EA App, Epic Game Store, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

While some players might be jumping to BF2042 to scratch the itch left when EA pulled the Battlefield 6 open beta servers down, some might be playing the game to complete missions, so they earn rewards for BF6 when it launches in October. You read that right! EA has launched a “Road to Battlefield 6” initiative within BF2042, and that includes the content drop, and more importantly, a bunch of items that players can work towards in order to have it in Battlefield 6.

BF2042 Free Battle Pass Rewards for BF6

As part of today’s update, EA has given a 60-tier free Battle Pass in BF2042, and it includes items players can earn for BF6. According to EA, there are 24 items in total, which you can can check in-game. Some of the big items include weapon, soldier skins, and even vehicle skins, too.

Players can participate in the event from today (Aug. 18) up to October 7.

Answering questions that might be asked, EA has confirmed these items will not be available for purchase and are only available via the free Battle Pass progression.

Participants who qualify will automatically receive the rewards as part of their loadouts when they log in to Battlefield 6. Newedless to say, you must own the game in order to claim and view the rewards.
