With DICE releasing the last title update for Battlefield 2042 Season 1: Zero Hour, players can now look forward to Season 2, with details promised to be shared sometime this month. For those hoping for more maps to make their way with Season 2, that won’t be happening, sadly.

With the title update’s roll out, DICE conducted a dev stream where members of the dev team discussed the changes made in today’s patch, as well as what’s in store for Season 2. In the stream, Lead Level Designer Shashank Uchil confirmed that there would be only one new map releasing in Season 2.

When asked whether Uchil has any final remarks about the new season, he responds by stating, ” I am super hyped for the new level we are going to release…” and goes on explaining the added cover this new map brings compared to other maps available in All-Out Warfare. While more cover is good, Uchil did state “for the new level” and not “new levels,” which basically confirms what we’ve been dreading all along: that there’s only one new map being introduced in Season 2 (just like in Season 1).

With the strides made in Season 1, let’s hope that DICE has more content planned in the later seasons. I mean, even if we’re just getting one new map in Season 2, let’s hope that we get at least two new maps in Season 3. One can hope, right?
