As readers pointed out, it is most likely the case that the Battlefield 3 Premium Edition launched before the release of BF3’s last expansion, “End Game,” so it is simply stating that one of the expansions (End Game) is coming at a later date (at the time). According to others, the notification has been up for a while now. If that’s the case, which it appears to be, we definitely jumped the gun.
Is a sixth expansion pack making it’s way to Battlefield 3? According to the official Battlefield 3 Premium Edition website, there is.
Upon reading the “key features” of this edition of Battlefield 3, you’ll notice the second point that includes an asterisk at the end of the sentence. It reads, “Battlefield 3 Premium membership including all 5 expansion packs*”
That’s Back to Karkand, Close Quarters, Armored Kill, Aftermath and End Game – all expansion packs that are currently out and available for download.
However, finding the corresponding asterisk at the bottom of the page, it reads, “*1 expansion pack to be released at a later date”
It’s not clear how long the message has been present. If it’s a lack of updates on the website’s part, then it could be old news, but we’d think that official DICE and EA channels would keep up to date as often as possible. If that is the case, it looks like Battlefield 3 fans expect yet another expansion pack “at a later date”?
We’ve sent a request to DICE and EA for official word on the matter.
