Battlefield 6 Weapon & Player Progression Buffs Coming in Next Update; DICE Intends to Diminish Portal XP Farms
While Battlefield 6 seems to be hitting all the right notes, one area where it needs a significant change is how progression works. To put it bluntly, grinding for items and weapon attachments are a chore that’s a tad too much to take.
Unless all you do is play the game the entire day, chances are you haven’t maxed out a gun yet, since unlocking weapon attachments is painfully slow.
Thankfully, DICE has heard the complaints and is doing something about it.
Battlefield 6 XP Grind and Weapon Progression Will Be More User-Friendly Very Soon
In an announcement on the Battlefield Comms X account, DICE acknowledged the frustrations players have been facing with XP and grinding for weapon attachments.
The good news is, there is an update due next week that should alleviate this. The changes being made are as follows, with Assignments getting adjusted as well.
- The XP gained from match completion and the daily bonus are being increased by 10% and 40% respectively.
- The XP needed to unlock the first 20 attachment ranks is being reduced, so you’ll start earning useful attachments almost twice as fast.
- Please Note: For weapons that are already being progressed, the UI might display something abnormal at first, but this should resolve itself once a match is played while using that weapon.
- The assignments that required career ranks 20, 23, and 26 to begin will now require career ranks 10, 15, and 20, respectively.
- While this allows these assignments to be started sooner, we are aware of the frustrations regarding the challenges themselves and are actively working on reviewing them, but it will take more time to develop, test, and implement these changes.
DICE says their goal is ” to make the progression experience feel smoother and more rewarding while still keeping that sense of achievement when you complete a milestone like fully mastering a weapon.”
Battlefield 6 Portal XP Farms Will Be Reduced
If you’re trying to find a playlist in Portal that suits your preference, chances are, all you’ve seen since the game launched are XP farm lobbies. I know that’s most of what I’ve seen, and due to this, other matches can’t be created since these XP farms have capped Portal’s inftrastructure.
DICE is also aware of this “issue,” and will be remedying that soon.
Per the developers. “We are developing adjustments that are intended to diminish the number of XP farms taking up server space while further emphasizing playing with friends on both custom and verified experiences.”
Implementing the changes will require maintenance on the backend, and this means that after this update to apply the change is live, all experiences, both custom and verified, will be need to be republished by players before they can create an active server.
Both the XP and Portal changes are planned to go live next week, though no definite date has been given since there is testing and certification that need to be completed. Concerns about visibility, weapon bloom, vehicles not spawning and other issues have also been acknowledged, and more details on those will be shared at a later time.
DICE hasn’t confirmed whether the weapon bloom change will be released alongside the XP and Portal updates, but we’re hoping it is. While we got our first post-release patch yesterday, it was more for stability to prep the game for Season 1’s launch on Oct. 28.
Hopefully, the planned next update also fixes most of the known issues that have caused problems to players since launch.
Once the update is live, expect it here on MP1st.
